Foreign language is one of our school's strongest points. We shape language learning as a way of life rather than a class: in kindergarten through songs and games, in primary school through stories and projects, in middle school through discussion and presentations.
Hours
- Kindergarten: 40 minutes of English play and routine a day
- Primary school: 10 hours of English a week (5 hours with a foreign teacher)
- Middle school: 8 hours of English + 2 hours of a second foreign language (German / Spanish) a week
- High school: 6 hours of English + 2 hours of a second foreign language a week; academic writing and debate
Assessment
Every year students take a level placement exam according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). B1 is targeted at the end of middle school and B2-C1 at the end of high school. Students who wish prepare at school for international proficiency exams.
Extra programmes
A summer-school language camp, language exchange abroad and the English stage (drama) club take language use beyond the classroom. An adjustment group is opened for new students with a different starting level.
